Ideal for collectors of political memorabilia and enthusiasts of American history, this unique item offers a tangible connection to one of the most important figures in US history.
Provenance:
On December 25, 1779, Wakefield Plantation, birthplace of George Washington, was destroyed by fire. William Augustine Washington, George’s nephew and then heir, proceeded to salvage the bricks and use them in the construction of his new home known as Haywood plantation 2 miles north on the Potomac River. Today, due to coastal erosion, nothing remains of Haywood except a rubble strewn field of bricks on the bottom of the Potomac River. A very small amount of these bricks have been rescued by underwater salvage crews.
Each card measures approximately 4" x 6" and is backed by acid free cardboard stock, along with UV plastic sealed covering, and tamper proof holographic seal.
